Measuring particle concentration in liquid with TURBIDI.T™ featured image.

A suspension is a mixture in which solid particles (organic or inorganic in nature) are dispersed in a liquid medium, but not dissolved. Suspensions are usually opaque or cloudy and can settle over time due to gravity. They have a broad range of applications and are present in various industrial processes, such as chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and environmental industries.

The solubility of solid pharmaceutical compounds is a critical factor that their bioavailability, effectiveness, safety, and quality. Solubility determines how quickly and efficiently a drug can dissolve and be absorbed into the body, which can affect its bioavailability, therapeutic efficacy, and potential side effects. Therefore, understanding solubility is a crucial step in drug development, formulation, and dosage selection, as well as for ensuring the quality of medications throughout their shelf life.

Lab technician using ElastoSens™ Bio for blood plasma coagulation analysis.

The human body has a natural mechanism to stop bleeding after an injury. Platelets migrate to the site of injury and start to form a soft blood clot. This activates other clotting factors in the bloodstream triggering a chain reaction to form a harder blood clot that will stay firmly in place.

Viscoelasticity test of cosmetic cream using ElastoSens™ Bio in a lab.

Rheological analysis is pivotal in ensuring the quality of cosmetic products. This study reveals how the ElastoSens™ Bio tool was used to characterize the viscoelastic properties of two different Nivea products under varying temperature conditions. Results highlight the divergent thermal responses of the products and underscore the effectiveness of ElastoSens™ Bio in understanding the thermal stability of creams.

Image for post hemostatic agents' effects on blood coagulation using ElastoSens™ Bio

The ElastoSens™ Bio was used to analyze the effects of hemostatic agents (HAs) on blood coagulation. The technology identified HAs that can alter clotting independently of the body's natural processes. These findings can optimize current HAs and aid in developing new ones.
