O PGA \u00e9 altamente cristalino e hidrof\u00edlico, caracter\u00edsticas que o distinguem de poli\u00e9steres biodegrad\u00e1veis \u200b\u200bintimamente relacionados, como o PLA e o PLGA. Seu produto de degrada\u00e7\u00e3o, o \u00e1cido glic\u00f3lico, \u00e9 um metab\u00f3lito natural que pode ser processado por vias fisiol\u00f3gicas normais.   <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">O PGA \u00e9 sintetizado a partir do \u00e1cido glic\u00f3lico ou de seu d\u00edmero c\u00edclico, o glicolido.
